Updated 09/19/2007
Since this is a new install, there have been several cables that are loosely pushed into their jacks. If you have any problems with the equipment operation, be sure to make sure that cables are FIRMLY inserted and try again.
In most schools, the VGA cable marked with the orange tape around it goes to the DOCUMENT CAMERA. THE PLAIN ONE GOES TO YOUR COMPUTER.
Sound Amplification (Lightspeed)
Make sure the power is on the LightSpeed. Turn the Lightspeed microphone on. (you will see a blue light on the microphone). Place lanyard around your neck and speak in a NORMAL voice.
Volume control- there is a volume button for each video device on the Lightspeed controller. (If it screeches, you need to adjust the volume.)
The volume control for the microphone on channel A is labeled “A Volume”.
If you hear sound from the adjacent room OVER THE SPEAKERS, change from Cannel A to Channel B (or vice versa) on the microphone.
The closer you are to the room speaker( solid white tile by the projector), the higher the chance of feedback.
Be sure to turn the Lightspeed control box off or turn the volume all of the way down.
Keep the microphone charging when not in use.
Do not put regular batteries in the LIGHTSPEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Projector
Turn the PROJECTOR ON by hitting the ON button on the pad on the wall. WAIT- it has to warm up before you see an image on your screen. If you turn the projector off and want to turn it back on again, please note that it will "cool down" before allowing you to come back on.
If you want the projector to project:
TV (the tuner is in the VCR)
Turn the VHS player on. Hit the VCR button on the panel. Change channels by using the VHS (Zenith) remote or by using the VHS Player channel buttons. Be sure to turn this device off after viewing or the sound will continue when you switch back to your computer.
If your TV only goes to channel 13, navigate to the VHS Player Menu with the remote or the front panel and Auto-program the channels.
VHS
Turn the VHS player on. Hit the VCR button on the panel. With a TAPE in the VHS player: Stop/Start/Fast Forward/Pause by using the VHS (Zenith) remote or by using the VHS Player channel buttons. Be sure to stop the video or turn this device off after viewing or the sound will continue when you switch back to your computer
DVD
Turn the DVD player on. With a DVD in the player, hit the DVD button on the wall panel. Skip forward or backward by using the forward/backward button on the panel or by using the TOSHIBA remote.
COMPUTER
Plug the VGA cable into your desktop or laptop. If you have a docking station, plug the cable into the docking station, NOT the laptop. Hit the PC button on the wall panel. While holding down the FN key on your computer, hit F7 for IBMs (F8 for Dells) and choose the resolution you prefer. If your application has sound, plug the AUDIO cable into your Audio Out jack on your docking station or your laptop..
DOCUMENT/Solid Object Camera
Turn the Document camera on using the red power button on the camera or the red power button on the camera remote. On the wall panel, hit the Doc Cam button. Adjust the camera up and down using the gooseneck. FOCUS using the white button on the camera head. Turn the LAMP off/on using the camera remote or the orange menu button on the camera.
The document camera has the following capabilities but requires more help than available in this document:
It can focus on any solid object.
It can freeze, flip and zoom in on the image of the object.
BEFORE YOU CAN USE THE DOCUMENT CAMERA TO SAVE PICTURES AND MARK THEM UP ON YOUR COMPUTER YOU MUST INSTALL THE SOFTWARE.
LOCATE THE CD:

Insert it in your CD Drive and do the USB Driver Install.
Then install the USB335 Software.
If you want a copy of the User Manual, install it.

If you pass the computer video through the camera, you can annotate what is under the camera if you have an Interwrite pad or with your mouse.
It can take a picture of the object and store it on your computer.
Be sure to turn the projector off when not in use by hitting the OFF button.
Room Lights- for rooms that cannot dim lights
If you don't like to have your room pitch dark while showing something on your projector, one teacher has suggested getting a lamp at a garage sale and turning it on so there is at least enough light to observe your students.
Loss of Electricity or Incorrect Shutdown
If your school loses electricity, the lights on the control panel will blink until you set the TIME. Your projectors have a failsafe to turn themselves off at 6 p.m. (They can be turned back on by hitting the ON button.) If you do not set the CORRECT time, they might shut themselves off in the middle of a lesson!
Do so by computing the correct hour in MILITARY TIME (AM= 1 to 12, PM=12 to 24). Then punch the bottom button on the left multiple times for the hour, then hit the bottom button on the right once.
Do not attempt to set the time if the lights are not blinking. Put a workorder in if the projector shuts down at the wrong time.
