We have received some new information from IBM concerning the docking stations and the connectivity problems.  They have examined this issue very closely and have come up with the following recommendation for the insertion of the laptop to the docking station.

1.   Your laptop should be joined to the docking station in the normal manner - view a Quicktime movie for the basic docking procedure http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&uid=psg1MIGR-53251&loc=en_US

  1. One additional step is required to be certain that your notebook is FULLY connected.   The photo below will show you the proper method to fully secure the laptop and docking station.  Please note that both thumbs should be used to provide equal pressure and ensure a proper connection.  One should hear a faint but detectable click upon proper connection.

3.  After insertion you should be able to pull up on either side of the computer without losing a connection which would be evident immediately if connection was lost.

It should be noted that the laptop can be on the docking station and the key locked and still not have a proper connection!

The amount of pressure that is applied should be firm but not overbearing.
