We have received some new information from IBM concerning the docking stations and the connectivity problems. They have examined this issue very closely and have come up with the following recommendation for the insertion of the laptop to the docking station.
1. Your laptop should be
joined to the docking station in the normal manner - view a Quicktime
movie for the basic docking procedure http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&uid=psg1MIGR-53251&loc=en_US

3. After insertion you should be able to pull up on either side of the computer without losing a connection which would be evident immediately if connection was lost.
It should be noted that the laptop can be on the docking station and the key locked and still not have a proper connection!
The amount of pressure that is applied should be firm but not overbearing.
