Windows updates now come from a local DCPS server instead of from the Internet. This allows us to get the Windows updates faster, to more machines, and without affecting our Internet speeds during the day. The updates are scheduled to download to your computer from our Update Server at 5am. If your computer is not on at 5am (and it probably won't be) then the update will be downloaded 15 minutes after you start your computer. These updates should occur automatically. When an update is ready for installation you will see a dialog box similar to the graphic to the right. If at all possible let the install proceed normally, knowing that you may have to reboot after the update is finished. If you are in the middle of working on something on your computer that you can't come back to then click the "No" button to postpone the update.
Because you will have the ability to postpone the updates you will need to know how to finish the update manually. Shortly after you have postponed the update you will get a popup notice and see the little Windows Update Globe
in your system tray.
When you get a notice in the system tray, you need to install these Windows Updates onto your machine as soon as possible. Left click on this icon to start the installation. A box will pop up. Click the install button.
It will show you the progress of the installation.

Once the installation is complete you may restart your computer. Click the "Yes" button to restart
.
